New bridge work closes Maumee-Perrysburg span

9/1/2002

The Maumee-Perrysburg Bridge will close Tuesday for two months, leaving motorists with a six mile-long detour going from State Rt. 25 to I-475/U.S. 23 to U.S. 24.

Every day, about 21,000 vehicles use the bridge, which carries Route 25 and U.S. 20 across the Maumee River.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is closing the bridge so roads on both sides of the river can be shifted and connected to the span being built by Mosser Construction of Fremont.

The existing bridge is expected to be demolished sometime in the next two months. The span is expected to open Nov. 1.
