Elections panel scolds former Haskins councilman

10/3/2002

HASKINS, Ohio - The Ohio Election Commission issued a reprimand against a former Haskins Village Council member for writing false statements and circulating them in last year's general election campaign material.

The commission found David Wurst used false statements about mayoral candidate Kenneth Fallows, Councilman Tim Enright, and Treasurer Jennifer Asmus in his campaign distributions.

The commission determined it would not file the reprimand with the Wood County Prosecutor's office. In an unusual step, however, the commission released the letter of reprimand this week to news media, Executive Director Philip Richter said. Typically, only the parties involved receive such a letter.
