Woman dies, 3 hurt in accident near Ada

ADA, Ohio - An Alger, Ohio, woman was killed, and three other Alger residents were hurt, two seriously, when their car rammed a tractor-trailer rig that turned into its path on State Rt. 309 at State Rt. 235 about three miles south of here, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

D. Lorraine Bryant, 67, the right-front passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers at the patrol's Findlay post said.

Joyce E. Bryant, 46, the driver and daughter of the deceased, was first flown by a medical helicopter to St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio, then to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, where she was in critical condition last night. Gary L. Bryant, 42, the left-rear passenger and husband of the driver, was in serious condition in Lima Memorial Hospital.

Taylor Ramey, 4, the middle-rear passenger and a niece of the driver, was treated in St. Rita's. She was properly restrained in a child safety seat, troopers said.

The Bryants' Dodge Neon was eastbound on Route 309 about 2:35 p.m. when the semi driven by William F. Fraker, 37, of Pataskala, Ohio, tried to turn south from westbound State Rt. 235/State Rt. 309 onto Route 235 and drove into the path of the car. The impact caused the car to roll over. It came to rest on its top, troopers said.

Charges against Mr. Fraker are pending the outcome of the investigation, troopers said.
