Lucas County commissioners have received a $51,000 grant from the National Park Service to renovate a ball diamond, build a shelter, and upgrade a kitchen in a building at Irwin Park in Spencer Township.
Commissioners will add $59,000 from a federal Community Development Block Grant for the improvements.
The county earlier this year used more than $100,000 in grants to add playground equipment and fencing and to replace kitchen equipment at the Spencer-Sharples Community Development Center.
