Winning edge wider than thought in tax vote

KENTON, Ohio - An income tax renewal for Riverdale schools that appeared to have passed by just one vote on election night actually passed by four, the Hardin County Board of Elections determined yesterday.

The three-year, 1 percent income tax passed 1,073 to 1,069, said Anne Boston, elections director. She said additional votes came from provisional ballots cast by residents who had changed addresses. Those ballots were not counted until 10 days after the election.

Riverdale schools are situated in Hardin, Hancock, and Wyandot counties.
