Boy struck by car on Spencer Street

An 8-year-old boy was hurt seriously when he was hit by a vehicle as he ran west across the 400 block of Spencer Street, authorities said.

Donald Holmes, Jr., of the 1400 block of Colton Street, has head injuries and a broken leg. He was in serious condition last night in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Toledo police said Theresa Smith of the 1400 block of Chester Street was driving north on Spencer about 3:50 p.m. Monday when the boy ran across the street and was hit.

No citations have been issued. The accident remains under investigation.
