Teenager killed, 2 hurt in Hardin County crash

KENTON, Ohio - An Ada, Ohio, teenager was killed and two others were injured in a Thursday evening crash in Hardin County.

Kate Brown, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:52 p.m. crash. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Arran L. Hamm, 18, of Ada, who was in fair condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Mr. Hamm was driving westbound on State Rt. 309, just west of Kenton, when he lost control of the car and drove left of the center line. He struck an oncoming vehicle driven by David Miller, 23, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, who was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition.

A second passenger in Mr. Hamm's vehicle, Matt Rettig, 17, of Ada, was treated at Hardin Memorial Hospital, as was Mr. Miller's passenger, Fred Simons, 24, of Bellefontaine.

Troopers at the Findlay post are investigating the crash.
