A Toledo man was hospitalized last night after his car hit the B&W Carryout, 5330 Telegraph Rd., after he lost consciousness while driving, authorities said.

Maurice Nelson, 54, of North Detroit Ave. was in serious condition at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Toledo police said it appeared as though Mr. Nelson pulled into a parking spot in front of the store when he lost consciousness about 1 p.m. Thursday. The car continued forward and hit the building.

Toledo fire personnel broke out a rear window in the car to rescue Mr. Nelson.

They told police that Mr. Nelson didn't regain consciousness and was taken to the hospital. He fell into a coma and remained in a coma yesterday morning, police said.
