Payments from state grow

1/9/2003

The weekly unemployment compensation for Ohioans is increasing, on top of the renewed extended benefits.

The adjustment in what the state pays occurs annually and is based on increases in average weekly pay the prior year. This year, the increases range from $7 to $10 a week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said yesterday.

Jobless workers receive 50 percent of their weekly pay up to certain maximums. Top benefits for single workers will rise to $315 from $308; for workers with one or two dependants, to $382 from $373; and for workers with three or more dependents, to $424 from $414.
