Hardin Memorial gets designation from U.S.

2/17/2003

KENTON, Ohio — Hardin Memorial Hospital is the latest of several area hospitals to receive designation as a critical-care access facility.

The designation will allow the hospital to receive full reimbursement for the cost of all of its Medicare services, instead of getting fixed payments for inpatient and outpatient care and laboratory tests.

At Hardin Memorial, the new designation affects the reimbursement of all services rendered on or after Dec. 1., of last year, hospital officials said.

In 2002, three other area hospitals received the same designation. They are Henry County Hospital in Napoleon, Mercy Hospital of Willard, and Magru|der Hospital in Port Clinton.

The designation usually goes to small, rural hospitals.
