FREMONT — The WSOS Community Action Commission plans to seek more than $4 million in federal and state grants for health care and housing programs.

The agency's board voted last week to seek $2.9 million from the U.S. Department of Labor for health-care training for 1,330 families in Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties. The two-year program, in conjunction with the Sandusky, Ottawa, and Seneca Counties Tri-Coun|ty Health Care Consortium, would provide residents an opportunity to upgrade their skills and education in the medical field.

A second grant proposal seeks up to $600,000 from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency for housing tax credits for each of two proposed rental developments in Port Clinton and Tiffin. The funds would provide partial financing for construction of 40 single-family homes in Tiffin and 70 townhouse-style units in Port Clinton.
