ALLEN COUNTY

March 8: The Lima Beane Barbershop Chorus will present its 55th annual show at Veteran's Memorial Civic and Convention Center, 7 Town Square, Lima. Shows are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Admission is $12 for everyone and parking is $3.

May 24-May 26: A Civil War monument will be unveiled and rededicated on Main Street in Lafayette. The program will include a Civil War encampment. The event is free and will run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday. A parade is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday.

DEFIANCE COUNTY

March 2: Names of area schoolchildren who've produced the best Ohio birthday card and essays will be announced from 2-3 p.m. at the Northtowne Mall, 1500 North Clinton Street, Defiance.

July 16-July 20: The Ohio Humanities Council will bring its red and white tent to Pontiac Park, East River Drive, Defiance, for a program on Ohio's frontiers. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. all days except for Sunday, when hours are noon to 7 p.m.

ERIE COUNTY

July 1: Author Sherwood Anderson's book Winesburg, Ohio, will be discussed from 7 to 8 p.m. at Ritter Public Library, 5680 Liberty Ave., Vermilion.

FULTON COUNTY

June 14: An exhibit will open at 10 a.m. on this day at Sauder Village, 22611 State Rt. 2, Archbold. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors will be able to see the exhibit and listen to interpreters talk about the area's first settlers. Admission is $11.50 for adults and $5.50 for children ages 6-16.

HARDIN COUNTY

March 1: The Hardin County Players will present a historical pageant of a series of events in Hardin County during the 19th and 20th centuries from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kenton Middle School, 300 Oriental St., Kenton.

HURON COUNTY

March 22: Re-enactors will portray Dr. Alta Weiss, one of Ohio's only semi-professional national recognized female baseball players of the early 1900s. The event will be held at the Norwalk Public Library, 46 West Main St., Norwalk, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

OTTAWA COUNTY

Sept. 11-14: Ohio the Musical will be performed at Port Clinton High School, 821 South Jefferson St. Hours are 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Day tickets are $15 and evening tickets are $20.

Sept. 20: Port Clinton leaders will hold a 175th birthday for the city in conjunction from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Waterworks Park downtown.

March 1: Clyde will hold a statehood day celebration from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting with a breakfast buffet at the VFW.

SENECA COUNTY

Nov. 9-Nov. 10: Four speakers will discuss Ohio's German heritage at Heidelberg College, 310 East Market St., Tiffin. Tickets are $20 for adults and senior citizens.
