LIMA, Ohio - A man who was wounded a year ago in a deadly shooting over drugs was arrested yesterday on a drug charge after police searched his home and found crack cocaine and marijuana.

Layshane Liles, 29, of 316 Harrison Ave., was charged with a felony count of crack cocaine possession. He was being held in the Allen County jail.

Lima police said officers from its drug enforcement unit served a search warrant about 3 p.m. yesterday at Liles' east side house. Inside they found crack cocaine, marijuana, a firearm, and a large sum of cash. Liles was the only one home at the time, police said.

A year ago, two girls were shot dead and Liles and five others were wounded in a shooting in the 500 block of East Eureka Street.

In that case, Liles was the intended target of two men who went to his house on Jan. 3, 2002, to buy crack cocaine but instead robbed him of drugs and money, authorities said.

The assailants tied Liles' hands and led him into the kitchen, where he was shot. Then the pair opened fired on the others. Jala Grant, 3, and Leneshia Williams, 17, died from gunshot wounds in the head.

Convicted and sentenced to death in the shootings were Cleveland Jackson, and his half-brother, Jeronique Cunningham.
