Fulton County taps new MRDD leader

4/9/2003

WAUSEON - The Fulton County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities voted unanimously last night to hire Dan Pfahl, of Ottawa County's Carroll Township, as the board's new superintendent.

Mr. Pfahl, 56, has been associate director of the Ottawa County MRDD, for the last seven years. The position will pay $70,000 annually. The board approved a two year contract for Mr. Pfahl.

The board has been without a superintendent since August, when Debb Stanforth was offered a $99,000 buyout in exchange for her resignation.

Mr. Pfahl said the biggest challenge would be combating overcrowding.
