4/9/2003

BOWLING GREEN — The Wood County commissioners said yesterday that they've recently awarded a contract for the replacement of the Main Street Bridge in Millbury.

A contract for $236,500 was awarded to B. Hill'z Excavating of Wayne. Construction is to be completed by June 20.

The commissioners have appropriated $500,000 to the county engineer for bridge renovation work this year. Motor vehicle and gas tax funds are also used to fund bridge and road projects in the county.

Last year, officials said 12 bridges were replaced and 20 culverts and bridges were repaired at a cost of $3 million.
