Red Cross sells seats on new roller coaster

SANDUSKY — Want to be one of the first riders on the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster? It'll cost you at least $75 — in a donation to the American Red Cross.

The agency's Firelands chapter is auctioning off seats on Cedar Point's new coaster, Top Thrill Dragster, during its inaugural ride May 4. The coaster will rocket riders from 0 to 120 mph in four seconds, reaching a height of 420 feet, then plunge them straight down a spiraling free fall.

The minimum bid for the 96 seats on the ride is $75. In addition to making a bit of Cedar Point history, the winning bidders will receive admission to the park, breakfast, and a commemorative medallion. The Red Cross is accepting bids through 8:30 a.m. April 30.
