Hillsdale hikes fines for drunk drivers
5/2/2003HILLSDALE — Motorists caught driving drunk in Hills|dale County will be hit harder in the wallet because of new fines imposed by county officials.
The Hillsdale County law enforcement community, in cooperation with the Hillsdale County District Court, announced yesterday that drunk drivers will be fined an extra $100 beginning May 11.
The most recent statistical report from District Court showed a significant increase in drunk-driving arrests and convictions. The added fine will be used to reimburse some expenses incurred by the state and local units of government in their enforcement of drunk-driving statutes.
