Bellevue man convicted in rape of teenage girl

Alan Bartl, 46, entered an Alford plea to two counts of rape Wednesday in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court. In an Alford plea, a defendant admits no guilt but pleads to avoid conviction on more serious charges.

Bartl originally was charged with 16 counts of rape involving a Bellevue-area girl. The charges he was convicted of involve sexual contact with the girl in 2000, when she was 13. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison on each of the counts.
