Fostoria man imprisoned for assaults

5/16/2003

Jamie D. Taylor, 32, was convicted by a Seneca County Common Pleas jury on two counts of assault on a peace officer and one count of vandalism for damaging a police cruiser.

Judge Michael Kelbley ordered the sentences on the convictions for all charges to be served for a total of 34 months.

County Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Jr., said Taylor was drinking beer outside the Country Wet Spot Bar on Oct. 19 and threw a bottle at a police cruiser driven by Sgt. Steve Brown.

When the officer approached Taylor, the man kicked at Sergeant Brown, tried to head-butt him, and broke off one of the cruiser's windshield wipers and swung it at him.

Taylor also repeatedly kicked Officer Matt Noftz in the chest as the officer tried to help Sergeant Brown arrest Taylor.
