Bellevue woman killed, 5 hurt in U.S. 20 crash

WAKEMAN, Ohio — A Bellevue, Ohio, woman was killed yesterday and four children in her van were injured in a head-on collision on U.S. 20 in Huron County.

Christine Peacock, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene, just east of Wakeman.

According to the Norwalk post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Ms. Peacock was westbound near Butler Road just after 7 a.m. when she went left of center and struck an eastbound straight truck driven by Greg Parker, 22, of Norwalk.

Mr. Parker was taken by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he was in serious condition last night. Also in serious condition at the Cleveland hospital was John Peacock, 13, of Bellevue, a passenger in Ms. Peacock's van.

Three other children in the Peacock van were taken to area hospitals. James Ciano, 12, of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., was in serious condition at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center; Joshua Peacock, 13, of Bellevue was treated at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, and Cassandra Whittman, 16, of Bellevue was treated at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin, Ohio.
