Norwalk shooting victim out of critical condition

NORWALK, Ohio — A Norwalk man who was shot by a neighbor during a dispute last week was upgraded to serious condition yesterday in a Cleveland hospital.

Mark Martin, 32, had been listed in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center since being shot in the chest June 25 at his home by Richard Hartikainen. Hartikainen, 55, a former Huron County probation officer, shot himself in the head shortly after wounding Mr. Martin and died Saturday .

According to Norwalk police, Hartikainen shot Mr. Martin and then himself after confronting Mr. Martin's teenage son outside the family's house.
