Collen Derby, 19, is also charged with fleeing a police officer and operating under the influence of liquor and a misdemeanor charge of having an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle.

Adrian police said the suspect was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol when officers tried to stop him late last month. He then allegedly drove toward an officer and continued to resist arrest. Mr. Derby faces up to six years in prison if found guilty of all charges.

Mr. Derby was in the Lenawee County jail yesterday on a contempt-of-court charge for not complying with terms of probation resulting from a minor-in-possession charge the year before. He was sentenced June 26 to 20 days in jail.
