Sylvania Twp. police charge 7 in DUI check

Sylvania Township police's second sobriety checkpoint of the year resulted in seven people being charged with driving under the influence, including a minor.

Police said 662 vehicles went through the zone on West Central Avenue between Reynolds and Holland-Sylvania roads between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. yesterday. All but 25 of them were checked, police said.

Numerous other citations were issued, including seven for driving with a suspended driver's license. Six vehicles were seized and nine restraint citations were issued, police said.

Township police received assistance from the Ohio Highway Patrol and the Ottawa Hills and Toledo Area Metroparks police departments.
