Man pushed from balcony; neighbor held

7/20/2003

An intoxicated Toledo man was hurt yesterday when his neighbor pushed him off a second-floor balcony after the victim walked over the top of the neighbor's car parked in the 3700 block of West Alexis Road where both men live, Toledo police said.

John Okuley, 38, was taken to Toledo Hospital for what looked like a broken leg and head injuries, Sgt. Deonn Bortel said. Mr. Okuley's condition was not available last night.

William Halbert, 27, of 3747 West Alexis, Apt. 111 was arrested and charged with felonious assault. He was being held in the Lucas County Jail, Sergeant Bortel said.

Mr. Okuley, who was “very intoxicated,” apparently walked over the top of Mr. Halbert's car and up to his second-floor apartment where Mr. Halbert followed him. An altercation ensued, during which Mr. Okuley was pushed and fell about 13 feet to the ground, the sergeant said.
