Toledo Zoo event marks disabilities act anniversary

Sixty local disability-related service providers and vendors will celebrate the 13th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act with an extensive information fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Toledo Zoo.

The event is free after a paid admission to the zoo.

The Ability Center of Greater Toledo is coordinating this fourth annual event to provide people with disabilities and the general public with information on accessible housing, transportation, mobility aids, and other resources geared to help people with disabilities gain or maintain independence in everyday living.

Established in 1920, the Ability Center of Greater Toledo is a nonprofit organization providing services designed to assist people with disabilities participate in their communities with the greatest possible independence.

The center offers peer support, information and referral, independent living skills training, advocacy, and other services to residents of Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Williams, and Wood counties.
