ELMORE — A 78-year-old woman was hurt in a crash yesterday just south of this Sandusky County village.

Wanda Jeffrey of Fostoria was in serious condition at the Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, where she was taken after the 9:53 a.m. crash. The Ohio Highway Patrol said she was eastbound on U.S. 20 when a vehicle driven by Antonio Gonzales, 48, of Amherst, Ohio, pulled out from State. Rt. 51 in front of her.

The crash forced Ms. Jeffrey's vehicle off the road and into a pole, troopers said.

Mr. Gonzales, who was charged with failure to yield, wasn't hurt. His wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital with nonlife-threaten|ing injuries. Her full name and age weren't available last night.
