Suspect in traffic death still held in county jail

A Toledo man remained in the Lucas County Jail last night after failing to post bond on charges in connection with Sunday's death of a motorcyclist on I-75 in a construction zone near an entrance ramp.

Municipal Judge C. Allen McConnell set bond yesterday at $100,000 for Robert Alexander, 41, of Berkshire Place, accused of aggravated vehicular homicide and drunk driving.

Police said Mr. Alexander's car struck the rear of a northbound motorcycle on I-75 north of the 14th Street entrance ramp Sunday afternoon, killing the driver, Jason J. Scheuerman, 23, of Temperance.

A breath test measured Mr. Alexander's blood alcohol content at 0.243 percent, three times the legal limit in Ohio of 0.08 percent, police said.
