Fuel spill from crash shuts southbound I-75

8/14/2003

A tractor-trailer rig spilled about 75 gallons of diesel fuel when a car collided with it on southbound I-75 at Jeep Parkway, forcing a brief shutdown of the expressway's southbound lanes, police said.

The accident occurred about 7:35 p.m. in a construction zone, causing fuel from the truck's tank to spread across the southbound lanes. Several truckloads of sand were brought to absorb the fuel.

At 10:30 p.m., only one lane of southbound traffic was open. There were no serious injuries.
