One candidate withdrew from November's Wauseon City Council race, a fourth man added his name to the ballot for Wauseon school board seats, and a second name was added to the Delta mayor's race in the past week.

Mike Vasquez withdrew from the city council race because of a change in his work schedule.

“I have decided that by working on second shift with Lear Corp. I just would not have the time to dedicate to the role of city council member,” he wrote to the Fulton County Board of Elections.

His withdrawal leaves four candidates competing for three seats: Dan Garvin, Ivan Hite, Kathy Huner, and Justo Suarez. The seats are now held by Mr. Hite, Ms. Huner, and Jerry Dehnbostel, who is running for mayor. Nancy Wilke withdrew from the race earlier.

In the Wauseon school board race for two seats, Larry Fruth, a retired Wauseon High School guidance counselor, athletic director, and head football coach, added his name to the ballot.

Filing earlier were Larry Lammon II, owner and operator of Wayne Lammon & Sons, Inc., a Wauseon used car dealership and rental buildings firm; Todd Myers, senior vice president of National City Bank in Toledo; and James Parker, a substitute teacher and U.S. Army veteran.

Delta mayor incumbent Donald Gerdes put his name on the ballot for his position. Councilman Helen Jones, a retired bookkeeper, filed earlier.

In Clinton Township, which encompasses Wauseon and is the largest township in Fulton County, a third candidate filed for the clerk's race.

Judy Warncke, assistant vice president-marketing director at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Archbold filed in the past week. Earlier filers were Leslie Gype, a former secretary in the Fulton County engineer's office and a stay-at-home mother, and Harold Heidi Sauber, deputy clerk of courts for Fulton County's Western District Court and owner of Harold Sauber's Tax Service.

Next Thursday is the filing deadline for the Nov. 4 ballot.
