SANDUSKY — The state Controlling Board has released $61,200 for two Sandusky-area projects, state Rep. Chris Redfern (D., Port Clinton) announced.
The state is providing $49,500 to demolish stone cottages at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. The cottages have been vacant since 1992 and are considered a potential safety hazard, Mr. Redfern said.
In addition, the state is paying $11,700 to a Columbus engineering firm for design work on a replacement roof for the Sandusky Armory. The total cost of replacing the armory's 43-year-old roof, which leaks, is estimated at $145,000. The armory is home to Troop C of the 2nd Squadron, 107th Cavalry Regiment, a unit of the Ohio Army National Guard.
