FOSTORIA — First Step Family Violence Intervention Center has received a state grant for more than $46,000 that will provide money for two full-time client advocates.

One client advocate is in place, while a second person will be hired by early September with the additional funding. First Step officials are planning to provide $11,000 to the grant as a matching portion.

The grant was awarded through the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice to First Step, which is a nonprofit family violence intervention center that helps people and families in Wood, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wyandot counties learn to live abuse-free lives.

First Step provides 24-hour crisis intervention, a residence, counseling, and other services.
