Temperatures help Cedar Point recover

SANDUSKY — Warmer temperatures helped boost attendance at Cedar Point last month, reversing a slump caused by unseasonably cool and wet weather in the spring and early summer.

Cedar Fair LP, which owns the Sandusky amusement park, said attendance in August was up 4 percent over the same month last year. Attendance in July was down 3 percent.

Overall, attendance increased 5 percent last month at Cedar Fair's six amusement parks and five water parks. For the year, company-wide attendance is down 2 percent.

“As weather continued to improve over the past several weeks, attendance at several of our parks picked up nicely,” said Dick Kinzel, chairman, president, and chief executive officer.
