W. Toledoan wounded in drive-by shooting

9/21/2003

A 22-year-old West Toledo man was treated at Toledo Hospital for bullet wounds in his neck suffered in a drive-by shooting yesterday at Central Avenue and Douglas Road.

The incident started with an exchange in the drive-through of the Big Boy Family Restaurant on Secor Road.

Scott D. Goldsworthy was in the drive-through lane with friends shortly after 3 a.m. when a woman got out of the passenger side of a Jeep Cherokee and ran to a vehicle behind them. Mr. Goldsworthy's passenger, Paul J. Krueger, told police he said, “Hey, what's up, baby?” as she passed. Mr. Goldsworthy and friends received their food and were stopped at the traffic light at Secor and Central. The Jeep pulled up next to them and the driver said something that they didn't hear. Mr. Goldsworthy turned left onto Central and at Central and Douglas, the Jeep pulled up next to them, and the driver shot Mr. Golds|worthy in the back of his neck.
