FREMONT — Three men were hurt early yesterday when a motorist lost control of his vehicle on State Rt. 53, just south of the Ottawa-Sandusky county line, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The driver, Carlos Sumner, 22, of Port Clinton, was in critical condition in Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo. His passengers, Ernesto Chavez, 22, and Clayton Havens, 22, both of Fremont, were treated at Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

Troopers in Fremont said Mr. Sumner was northbound at 2:30 a.m. on State Rt. 53 when he lost control of his car, veered off the right side of the road, and overturned. Mr. Sumner and Mr. Havens both were ejected.

None of the occupants was wearing a seat belt, authorities said. The accident remains under investigation.
