METAMORA, Ohio - The Evergreen Board of Education last night awarded bids totaling $7.43 million to seven contractors to build an elementary school that will replace Lyons and Fulton schools, Superintendent Kenneth Jones said.

Baker Shindler Contracting Co., of Defiance, was chosen to be the general contractor on the project with a low bid of $4.78 million.

The school, to be constructed on Fulton County Road 6 near Evergreen High School, is expected to be completed by the end of 2004.

The project will be paid with funds from the Ohio School Facilities Commission and local tax revenues.
