Maumee breaks ground for pool

10/1/2003

Planning for warmer days to come, Maumee officials broke ground yesterday in Rolf Park, 2029 Cass Rd., at the spot where a 10,000-square-foot swimming pool is expected to open July 4.

The $3.4-million pool will include lanes for lap swimming, a diving well and three-meter board, circular flumes, and a play area for children.

To make way for the pool, tennis and volleyball courts will be removed and parking expanded by 109 spaces to 530 spots.

The city has no community pool. Residents used the pool at the Lucas County Recreation Center, but that pool was demolished this year.

Mosser Construction, Inc., of Fremont will build the pool, which was designed by SSOE Studios, Toledo, and Water Technologies, Inc., of Beaver Dam, Wis.
