Rolled-over rig's slippery spill shuts part of road near Leipsic

10/29/2003

LEIPSIC, Ohio - A stretch of State Rt. 613 was closed east of here for about three hours yesterday after a tractor-trailer rig rolled over, spilling a nonhazardous industrial lubricant on the roadway.

The truck driver, Ralph Dyer, Jr., 44, of Lima, was treated for his injuries at Lima Memorial Hospital.

Putnam County sheriff's deputies said the truck rolled over and went into a ditch about 12:33 p.m. on State Rt. 613, east of County Road 5. The truck was carrying barrels of the lubricant known as Lubriplate.

After the road was reopened yesterday afternoon, deputies said members of a construction company remained on scene, cleaning up the ditch and a nearby field.

The accident remains under investigation.
