Fostoria council to review status of firefighter talks

11/7/2003

FOSTORIA — City Council will conduct a special meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss a fact-finder's report on contract negotiations with the city's unionized firefighters.

The report is to be issued Monday, and the city will have seven days to accept or reject. If the city and the union approve the report, it will take effect as the new contract between the sides.

Two previous tentative agreements were rejected, one by council and the other by the union.

Also at the Wednesday meeting, city Auditor Deb Souder will present an update on city finances. At a meeting Tuesday night, she told council that the city faces a year-end budget deficit of $239,000 if all appropriated money is spent.
