Pair of business groups plan merger in Fostoria

11/7/2003

FOSTORIA — The Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce and the Fostoria Economic Development Corp. have begun steps to merge.

The executive boards of both organizations agreed Tuesday night to consolidate, and the full boards of each group are expected to finalize the merger during a meeting at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Chamber/FEDC office at 121 North Main St.

The Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce was formed in the early 1900s, and the FEDC organized in the early 1980s. Since that time, the two groups have shared office space.

The chamber did not replace its former president, Dorene Nowatzke, when she resigned during the summer.
