Regional jail calls off crowding emergency

STRYKER, Ohio — An overcrowding emergency issued Thursday at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio was lifted Sunday morning, officials said yesterday.

Linda Shambarger, manager of inmate programs at the regional jail, said yesterday that Lucas County judges reduced their number of prisoners to 180 from 193. Jail doors were closed to Lucas County Thursday. The jail population had hovered above 95 percent of capacity for three days.
