FINDLAY — A program run by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office helped 23 intoxicated people get home on New Year's Eve, the agency reported yesterday.

Between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday, free rides and tows were offered to people who consumed too many alcoholic beverages too drunk to drive home.

Five people were arrested on drunken driving charges in that time, the sheriff's office reported.
