Contract let for widening of B.G. street

BOWLING GREEN - A contract to widen Wooster Street between I-75 and the CSX Transportation railroad has been awarded to a Columbus firm, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced yesterday.

Starting this spring, Kokosing Construction Co. will widen Wooster to five lanes between I-75 and Mercer Road, and to three lanes between Mercer and the railroad. The contract includes widening intersections at Campbell Hill and Mercer roads and Thurstin Avenue, upgrading traffic signals, replacing sidewalks, and resurfacing the existing roadway.

The firm s $6,030,370 bid was the lowest of five bids ODOT received. Construction is to be completed by Aug. 30, 2005. Wooster is part of State Rt. 64.

ODOT has also awarded a contract for resurfacing portions of state highways near Fremont and Fostoria.

Gerken Paving, Inc., of Napoleon will repave State Rt. 510 between State Rt. 101 and U.S. 6 in Sandusky County, and State Rt. 12 between State Rt. 613 (Poplar Street) and Beverly Drive in Seneca County.

Gerken s $1,579,234 bid for the contract was the lowest of three submitted to ODOT. Work is to begin this spring and be finished by Aug. 30.
