Clyde-Green Springs board ready to ask bids

1/29/2004

CLYDE, Ohio — The Clyde-Green Springs school board has agreed to seek bids for construction of an 850-seat auditorium at the district's high school.

Superintendent Todd Helms said the board set a deadline of 2 p.m. Feb. 20 to receive bids on the project. School officials hope to break ground in March and complete the facility within the next year, he said.

Voters in the district approved an 0.8-mill, 29-year bond issue in May, 2003, that will raise $2.5 million toward the project.

The school system also has raised about $1 million from private donors, including Whirlpool Corp. and Don W. Miller, owner of Miller Pipeline & Cable.
