Pickup driver killed in crash on Route 108

WAUSEON - A Lancaster, Ohio, man was killed yesterday when he lost control of his pickup on icy State Rt. 108 and struck a tractor-trailer head-on in Fulton County, two miles south of here.

The crash closed the road for 61/2 hours, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Marvin Kemmerer, 28, who was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers at the patrol s Toledo post said.

Mr. Kemmerer was northbound on Route 108 just north of county Road B about 12:20 p.m. when he lost control of the pickup.

It slid across the centerline and into the path of a semi driven by Jerry Hammond, 44, of Hillsboro, Ohio, troopers said.

Mr. Hammond was treated for minor injuries at the Fulton County Health Center here, troopers said.
