WSOS to close senior center in Oak Harbor

2/2/2004

FREMONT — The WSOS Community Action Commission plans to close one of its five senior citizen centers in Ottawa County and is reducing meal programs because of rising costs and stagnant funding, the agency said.

The Oak Harbor Senior Center reduced services and programming starting yesterday and will close in March, according to WSOS. In addition, the agency's senior center in Genoa will be open three days a week instead of four, with hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

WSOS delivers meals to seniors five days a week in the Genoa, Elmore, Oak Harbor, and Port Clinton areas. However, meal delivery will be eliminated on Thursdays in the Port Clinton and Oak Harbor areas and eliminated on Tuesdays and Fridays for Elmore, Genoa, and surrounding areas, WSOS said.
