Oregon accepts grant for community policing

2/10/2004

Oregon City Council agreed last night to accept $17,100 in federal grant money to fund community policing efforts.

The city must match 10 percent of the total amount, or about $1,900. The money was awarded to the city by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Police Chief Tom Gulch said the grant will be used to fund neighborhood foot and bicycle patrols, watercraft patrols, and community policing events.
