Kenton-area residents block effort for quarry

2/26/2004

KENTON, Ohio — Blanchard Township residents have won a nearly four-year battle to prevent National Lime & Stone Co. of Findlay from developing a quarry, although the company has until March 11 to appeal.

Hardin County Common Pleas Judge David Faulkner ruled earlier this month that National Lime & Stone could not build the quarry on 235 acres it owns along County Road 20 because the development would violate Blanchard Township zoning.

The company had argued it purchased the land and began doing site work before the zoning plan was adopted in November , 2000. Township trustee Theresa Allen, whose home would have been adjacent to the quarry and who led the fight against it, called the decision a big win.
