Planners to consider retail center near B.G.

2/26/2004

BOWLING GREEN - A plan to build a shopping plaza just north of the Woodland Town Centre is among the projects before the Wood County Planning Commission on Tuesday.

Timothy Meeker has applied to have 63.8 acres at Newton Road and State Rt. 25 in Center Township rezoned from agricultural to C-2 commercial for the proposed retail center.

Two items that go hand in hand are a request from the Perrysburg board of education to rezone 9.8 acres on the east side of State Rt. 199 between Eckel Junction and Niederhouse roads from agricultural to R-3 residential.

The school board plans to sell the land, which would be incorporated into the proposed Eckel Trace subdivision by West Valley Development. West Valley Development is asking the planning commission to review a new plan for the 48-acre subdivision, which would have 115 single-family lots.

Also on the agenda are:

w Riverbend LLC of Northwest Ohio has asked the commission to approve a 38-acre subdivision to be known as Riverbend Lakes off State Rt. 65 between Roachton and Five Point roads in Middleton Township. The development, first presented in 2001 as a 485-acre golf community, would include 76 single-family and villa lots.

Two versions of the plan have been submitted - one that includes a stub street for future expansion and one without the stub street.

w The Northwest Water and Sewer District wants to rezone 7.3 acres at and Woodville and Walbridge roads so it can sell the site to a general contractor who wants to put his business there. The district wants the land rezoned from B-1 neighborhood business and R-2 residential to M-2 industrial.

w Lake Township trustees are submitting an amendment to the township s zoning plan that would create a category known as R1-A. It would allow for smaller lots - 18,000 square feet rather than the 27,000 required under R-1 - and less frontage, 100 feet instead of 125.

The commission meets at 7 p.m. at the County Office Building next to the courthouse.
