Sylvania Township: Trustees OK hiring zoning investigator

4/14/2004

Sylvania Township trustees have approved hiring Vallencia Gentry as a zoning investigator and administrative assistant, according to Brad Peebles, township administrator.

The township office of zoning and development has been low on manpower since he took over as administrator and the former investigator, Mary Lou O'Mara, became director of the office and become involved in administrative requirements, he said.

Ms. Gentry has worked in the Lucas County economic development department and recently was a community development specialist for Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc. She will be paid about $30,000 annually.

When Mr. Peebles recommended her to the trustees, he notedshe was chosen from 291 applicants. He said she will look into specific complaints of zoning code violations and tour the area systematically to look for violations.
