Governor appoints Hartung

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft appointed James Hartung, president of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, to the Ohio Rail Development Commission yesterday.

The Rail Development Commission is in charge of developing, promoting, and supporting "safe, adequate, and efficient rail service."

Mr. Hartung, whose term will expire on Oct. 20, 2009, replaces Sylvania resident Donald Yerks, whose term expired.

The executive director of the Rail Development Commission is Jim Seney, a former Sylvania mayor.

Also yesterday, the governor's office announced that Roberta M. Hart of Fremont was appointed to the Ohio Medical Transportation Board for a term that ends July 5. Ms. Hart is owner of Hart's Ambulance LLC. The board licenses private ambulance operators.
